Is there such a thing as being ready to have a baby? If there is, how do you know?

Yes as they say all mothers have this instinct. I'm glad you handled it pretty well and I'm sure you are enjoying motherhood now

I was adament I was nt having children. Theres a lot of backstory to that, but yeah, it was nt happening. Now I have 2 kids! And yes they were planned. Motherhood is a massive change. You can make all the plans in the world about how ready you are going to be, and what kind of mother you are going to be, but ultimatly you end up going with the flow once baby gets here! I think finacially you have to be on your feet. I dont mean for really expensive stuff, because babies dont need anything near the amount of stuff (expensive equipment) newbie parents buy. But regarding the amount of nappies you need, and clothes, and paying for immunisations if you decided on private treatment, baby milk if not breastfeeding (stupidly expensive, it does all add up. Emotionally you have to be able to put yourself last. It does nt matter if your tired, if your hungry, if your bored, you have to put the childs needs first, whatever they may be. However babies are nt tiny and helpless forever, routine will be your best friend and over time it becomes a lot easier. ou get used to it and you learn to trust yourself. Mothers instinct really does kick in! You will find yourself hovering at the cot because you just know that baby is about to wake up and be sick lol, and even if you have never even held a baby or changed a nappy, your find doing it comes natrually, as will all those protective feelings

I totally agree with everything you said about motherhood being a massive change and being ready financially and emotionally. Thanks for sharing

I think this question is relevant after all these years. I think there is such a notion because some people just are not ready to have a baby. So, I realized that I wouldn't be able to devote as much time to work and myself as I used to. I was preparing for that. And I think that's the right thing to do.
